This week’s Barna Minute uncovers whether or not Americans leave space for pastors to be open and honest about doubts they may have in their faith.

In Barna’s reporting for The Resilient Pastor series, research reveals that almost half of U.S. teens and adults (48%) agree it’s more important for a pastor to be honest about their doubts, whereas only a third (34%) believe it’s more important for pastors to be certain about their beliefs. Just a few (18%) are unsure where they stand.

People are more ok with doubts than with certainty—even in relation to spiritual leaders. To the Church, this should communicate the high value the current generation places on authenticity.
