This week’s Barna Minute looks at the ministries that churches say they offer specifically for mothers.
Barna’s report, Motherhood Today, reveals what ministries U.S. Christian moms say their church offers specifically for mothers. Unfortunately, many churches do not offer ministries explicitly for mothers, but moms do often list other ministries that, while not created with only them in mind, do benefit them somehow.
Thirty five percent of moms say their church provides childcare during the service, while 22 percent say their church provides small groups that mothers attend. A smaller percentage of moms say childcare is provided during the week, that mentorship opportunities exist in the church and that mom-specific events are offered (13% each). Unfortunately, around two in five moms (43%) say their church fails to offer any mom-specific ministries or opportunities.
