This week’s Barna Minute looks at recent data on church spaces and mothers to see how moms might feel more welcome and cared for in a church building.
Beyond helping moms develop a deeper sense of connection and community, church can also be a place for them to break from the hectic, often demanding days of motherhood.
As the saying goes, “a mother’s work is never done,” and mothers confirm this to Barna. Over three in four mothers (77%) say it is at least somewhat true “I usually find myself worrying about something.” This sentiment is expressed even among most Christian moms. A strong majority of these women also say it is true “I feel tired most of the time” (68% of all moms and 65% of Christian moms), while a plurality of mothers (43%) strongly agree “being a mother is harder than ever today.” These experiences trickle down into how a mother shows up day-to-day.
