This week’s Barna Minute looks at the varying levels of spiritual openness across familiar U.S. demographics.
In Barna’s ongoing Spiritually Open series, data shows that non-Christians are highly spiritual people searching for growth and depth in their spiritual lives. When gauging the three levels of spiritual openness —determined by using a four-point scale developed by Barna Group researchers*—we see that the general population roughly splits into thirds across high, moderate and low levels of spiritual openness.
Looking at non-Christians specifically, we see that the plurality (39%) fall into a moderate level of spiritual openness, while 32 percent have high receptiveness and the remainder (29%) fall into the “low” category.
