This week’s Barna Minute looks at generational trust (or distrust) of the Church when it comes to stewarding financial support.
Data featured in The Trust Factor, Barna’s latest report created in partnership with Gloo and Ronald Blue Trust, shows that when it comes to trusting the church with their financial support, trust is fairly steady across age groups. This trust peaks with Gen Z—33 percent say they “completely trust” the church—but dips among Boomers who offer middling responses (just 21% “completely trust” churches with their financial support). Still, nearly one in five Gen Z and Millennials say they do not trust churches at all with their financial support.
With any faith-based forum for giving, it may be that there are some strong mindsets for or against financial support, bookending a moderate or undecided majority.
